Parents and Students
We hope you are all keeping well and staying safe. We are now two weeks into remote learning and we know this is a massive challenge for everyone. As a staff, we are constantly taking on board concerns expressed by parents and are doing our best to facilitate requests for additional support. We have made numerous changes to the provision of learning in terms of timetabling and planning, teaching methodologies and in the provision of feedback to students for work completed, in an effort to make remote learning a more positive, enjoyable and educationally beneficial experience for our students.
We were hoping that tomorrow would see the opening of our school for students with Special Education Needs, however this is not to be. For now, we must continue to work together from home and we can only hope that we will be opening our doors on February 1st and welcoming all our students back to school.
In the meantime, we are very conscious of the lack of social interaction and engagement students are having with their peers. This has always been a very important element of school life for students and one which is very often the highlight of a student’s day. In this regard , we have decided to organise a number of different events , to enable students to interact with and see their peers. Firstly, Last Friday we held our first zoom quiz and feedback from parents was very positive. We will hold another quiz this Friday (20th) January at 12.30 pm. Any family who did not join last week is more than welcome to join this week, just make sure you email email@example.com in advance and let me know so I can add your email address to the list.
In addition, we would also like to host a whole school zoom talent show. Over the years, we have been overwhelmed by the level of talent our students have . There are very limited opportunities during the hectic school day for students to show off their extra curricular skills and talents. As a staff, we would love to show everyone , just what the students of St Michael’s National School, Donaghmoyne, have to offer. However, we can’t hold a talent show without participants. Therefore, we are asking that anyone who would like to entertain us with a song, a tune on the tin-whistle or indeed any instrument, tell a few jokes (we could all do with a laugh right now), perform magic tricks, or whatever other amazing talents are out there… Please email firstname.lastname@example.org
If there is anything else we can do to help, please do not hesitate to email and we will do our very best to facilitate and support both students and parents in any way we can.
