Remote Learning 5th & 6th Class, 15th-17th February

Dear Parents & Pupils

I hope that you are all continuing to stay safe and well. As we enter our sixth week of remote learning I am sure you are all looking forward to the mid-term break and a well-deserved rest from home-schooling and Seesaw. I have emailed a plan of work for 15th to 17th Feb in daily timetable format. As always please do what you can and reduce or extend your child’s work to ensure it is suitable for their needs and ability.

There will be one Zoom class next week on Tuesday 16th February for Irish at 2.15pm. As always the final part of the Zoom class will be set aside for Questions & Answers the pupils may have on any of their work. Sincere thanks to you and to the pupils for making a huge effort to attend Zoom last week especially for the Debate. It really made a difference and the Debate was a huge success. Well done to everyone for the time and effort invested in planning, researching and delivering their argument. We look forward to our next debate after mid-term!

It was another wonderful week on Seesaw this past week and I am in awe with the quality and frequency of the pupils’ responses. They never cease to amaze me and I am very proud of all their efforts. Reminder: Please make sure pictures of written work are clear for me to be able to correct. There has been a huge improvement in this area.

I have now uploaded solutions to the Tables Champion book on Seesaw so please encourage your child to use these in order to self-correct their work from the beginning of remote learning.

We have a wonderful treat in store for the pupils next week. On Pancake Tuesday there will be a pre-recorded video on Seesaw which demonstrates step-by-step instructions of how to make pancakes. We may not get to indulge in school as we normally do but the next best thing is to attempt to make pancakes for ourselves given the fact that we will have all that we need at our disposal at home and cooking is not a skill we get to practise at school so I encourage you to take this opportunity to help your child to prepare, make and decorate pancakes. I am sure eating them won’t be a problem!! I am attaching a list of ingredients & equipment together with the method that will be demonstrated on the video so that all can be prepared and ready for Tuesday. Sincere thanks to Conor’s dad Greg Dowling for organising this for us. ALL cooking must be supervised by an adult.

As always if you have any questions, queries or feedback, don’t hesitate to contact me on my email address.

I hope you all have a lovely mid-term break!

Mrs Campbell
