Well done to the pupils of 5th & 6th Class who organised, planned and performed a wonderful fashion show as Gaeilge using language learned from our Irish lessons over the last few weeks on the theme of ‘Éadaí’. It was a huge success!
We have been very busy in the infant classroom lately. We are lucky to be joined by Ms Collier, a student teacher, over the next few weeks. We are still enjoying our GAA coaching every week with Cillian, and have also been flat out baking every Tuesday! You can see some of the yummy treats that we have made so far below!
We also held a Lá Glás to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. The children went on a leprechaun hunt around that school grounds and although we spotted a few, we didn’t manage to catch one!
First and Second Class had lunch outdoors today! It was fantastic to get the chance to sit outdoors with our friends and enjoy our food!! SUMMER IN MARCH!!
Today we decided to treat our selves to some Rocky Road Buns! The children really enjoyed their cooking experience today and got to take some tasty buns home with them!
This year we celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day by having a Saint Patrick’s themed week in our classroom, from Monday 14th – Wednesday 16th March 2022. We learned about the life and legend of Saint Patrick in our religion and history lessons. We also learned about how Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated here and around the world. In ‘Gaeilge’,we learned lots of vocabulary linked to Saint Patrick’s Day, played some games to practice our vocabulary and made some lovely Saint Patricks’s Day cards. For maths, we completed Saint Patrick’s themed maths challenges , Saint Patrick’s Day symmetry and addition. We sung ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’ and made Saint Patrick’s Men and Saint Patrick’s Day Badges. We even sent home some postcards to our families to wish them a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
We really enjoyed Engineers week as we built our very own catapults to send some objects flying across the room as well as building towers made from sticks and marshmallows. The children were very creative and worked extremely well in pairs and groups.
Cooking was a success this week with our St. Patrick’s Day themed Rice Krispie Squares – Yum!
For our third week of cookery, we decided to make some sweet treats for Saint Patrick’s Day!! We made delicious marshmallow rice krispie squares and of course we just had to add something green for the occasion!! We used green sweets and green icing to do this!! The children got to take home the food to show their families and maybe even let them have a taster!
Great cooking today 1st and 2nd Class. Well done!!
