Well done to Joshua Hughes in Second Class, who picked the winning title for our Christmas DVD. I think everyone will agree the title ‘Not Such a Silent Night!’ is very apt for our production.

Halloween in Junior and Senior Infants
We have had lots of fun preparing for Halloween this October.
We learned about the history of Halloween and spoke about the different traditions that we have at home at Halloween. We also discussed how to stay safe at Halloween, especially this year! We learned a new Halloween rhyme, ‘Witches Witches!’ and had a Halloween Dance Party outside!
For art we created beautiful pumpkins from clay, have a look at the fun we had in the process!
The children also used Halloween themed playdough mats to make their own Halloween creations. Have a look at our spooky names below.
Finally, we held a Halloween themed colouring competition. Well done to our winners JJ and Robyn!
Wishing you all a safe and happy mid-term break. Well done to our infants on all of their hard work this term!
Halloween 2020
We had great fun this Halloween in St. Michael’s National School. We took part in ‘Trick or Treat for Temple Street, and raised over €300 for this fantastic cause. Thank you to all for your donations!
We also held a socially-distanced fancy dress parade and fancy dress competition. Congratulations to our winners – Erin, Tiernan, Sophia, Tara, Neasa, Killian, Jamie and Emily.
We have an amazing first term here in St. Michael’s National School. We look forward to seeing you all in November!
Happy Halloween from 1st and 2nd Class!
Although we celebrated Halloween in a slightly different way this year, we still participated in lots of Halloween activities. We learned lots about the History of Halloween and its’ traditions in S.E.S.E., we learned lots of tips about keeping safe in S.P.H.E. and created our own safety tips posters, we wrote our own acrostic Halloween poems and completed Halloween Spiders and Frames in Art. We were delighted that we still got the opportunity to dress up and participate in a fancy dress parade! The outfits were fabulous! We finished our last day before our Halloween holidays, with a Halloween movie and some tasty treats.
Summer Reading Challenge 2020

Hallowe’en in 5th & 6th Class
We had a wonderful time getting ready for Hallowe’en this year. The pupils worked hard on creating spooky artwork. They wrote and dramatised Irish stories -‘An Cleas Iontach’ which were truly magnificent. They composed an interesting version of our poem ‘An Púca’ which will be able to be viewed on our Facebook page. They shared Hallowe’en stories and ‘Tall Tales’, discussed the History of Hallowe’en and enjoyed their fancy dress party on the last day! Have a SPOOKTACULAR Hallowe’en everyone!!
Happy Halloween 3rd and 4th Class
