Have a look at Ms. Atkinson’s class’ collaborative art that they completed on Monday 21st June 2021. It was a fantastic art lesson to finish the year on and it turned out beautifully!
Exciting Week in the Infant Classroom
We have had a very exciting week in the infant classroom!
On Wednesday 16th we were very lucky to have Donaghmoyne coaches Oisín and Michael in to teach the children tag rugby. The boys and girls had great fun and learned lots of new skills. Thank you Oisín and Michael!
On Thursday 17th we spent the morning at Donaghmoyne park. We are so lucky to have such an amazing facility right beside our school!
After our morning at the park we held our Sport’s Day. As we didn’t get the chance to hold a Sport’s Day last year, this was a first for both Junior and Senior Infants. The children had a wonderful day!
We spent plenty of time outside enjoying the sunshine!

First Confession 2021
Thirteen special pupils celebrated the Sacrament of Penance on Tuesday 25th May 2021 in St. Lastra’s Church, Donaghmoyne. Although this year’s First Confession was different than any other, it was no less special and will be one to be remembered with fond memories.
Well done and congratulations to the three boys and ten girls in second class for their respectful and prayerful participation on the morning of their First Confession.
Every one of them should feel very proud of their efforts, both in preparation for and during the ceremony. Both Second Class and First Class sang beautifully and this enhanced the occasion massively.
A huge thank you to Father Daly for celebrating this special occasion with us.
Autism Awareness Day 2021
There was a sea of blue in St. Michael’s N.S. on Friday 16th April as we celebrated our first annual Autism Awareness Day on Friday 16th April. The children in each class took part in various lessons throughout the day to raise awareness about autism. They learned what autism is, how to communicate with someone with autism, and how we could make school life easier for someone with autism. We wore blue on the day in support of autism awareness.
We also completed a whole-school collaborative art project which you can view below. The puzzle pattern reflects the complexity of the autism spectrum. It also shows that although we all have different personalities and abilities, we all fit together to create one amazing school community.
The children engaged really well and learned a lot! Well done boys and girls!

Easter in the Infant Classroom
Our infants were very busy in the lead up to Easter this year. We learned all about the Easter story in religion and why we celebrate Easter. We learned some Easter vocabulary in Irish and played some Easter games. We also created our own Easter Bunnies and Easter Chicks!
Have a lovely Easter break everyone!
