On Friday 9th June the children were delighted to attend our first ever school disco arranged by our student council. The student council organised disco lighting, the playlist and of course some disco accessories for each student. The photobooth was a particular hit with the students – have a look at the photos below!!

First Holy Communion 2023
On Saturday the 6th of May 2023, our seven amazing boys and our six fantastic girls in Second Class celebrated their First Holy Communion. This was a very special day for the children.
Our entire school community is incredibly proud of each and every one of them. They did our school, themselves and their families proud with their prayerful and respectful participation throughout the mass. The whole ceremony was enhanced by the beautiful singing from our school choir.
It was a privilege to help these wonderful children on their journey of faith, to the sacrament of First Holy Communion.
We would like to sincerely thank Fr. Daly for all his support as we prepared for this special day. He without doubt ensured that the day was a truly memorable one for the children.
We hope that your weekend of celebrations was all you wished for. May God continue to guide our First Communicants in faith and protect them always with his love.
Autism Awareness Day 2023
Spirits were high on Friday 28th April 2023 in St. Michael’s National School as we celebrated our third annual Autism Awareness Day. The children in each class took part in various lessons to raise awareness of autism. They learned what autism is, how to communicate with someone who has autism and how we can make school life easier for someone with autism. The teachers were so impressed with how children engaged with the lessons, and how much knowledge they had retained from last year.
We are so proud of our inclusive school!

Happy Easter from 3rd and 4th Class
After a super term of hard work in 3rd and 4th, everyone is delighted the Easter holidays have arrived.
This term, 3rd and 4th have been writing wizards, exploring persuasive, explanation and report writing.
In Maths, we have been looking at probability, fractions, decimals and 3D shapes. We even built our very own shapes. 3rd class have completed their multiplication tables while 4th class are pros at their division tables.
In Gaeilge, we were singing ‘Tóg amach mé’ for Lá Glas. We have learned our Aimsir Láithreach Briathra Rialta and will be moving on to the Briathra Neamhrialta after Easter.
We dived into the Amazon Rainforest when we were learning about Brazil. We completed group projects, covering various topics including: Animals of the Rainforest, Birds of the Rainforest, Layers of the Rainforest and Plants of the Rainforest. This was a topics that the children really enjoyed and it certainly added colour to our classroom.
We have also been exploring a bit closer to home, learning all of the counties of Ireland and what they are famous for.
Finally, we are all working on individual projects about a country of our choice. The children have been using books and tablets to research their chosen country and will present their findings to the class after Easter.
This term was full of events, including World Book Day, Pancake Tuesday, Mother’s Day, Lá Glas and finishing the term with a Pizza Party.
We have had lots of fun and are looking forward to seeing what our last Term brings!
Happy Easter everyone – enjoy the break!
Have an EGGcellent Easter from 1st & 2nd Class
First and Second class were ‘Busy Bunnies’ this week! We completed lots of lovely activities around the theme of Easter. In Religion, we looked at the history of Easter and the Easter Story. In Gaeilge, we learned lots of Easter vocabulary and made a lovely Easter card. In English, we listened to some Easter poems and created our own EASTER Cinquain poems. We also listened to an Easter story entitled ‘Saving Easter’ and sequenced the different parts of the story. Our music lesson consisted of singing some Easter themed songs and adding in our own actions. The children got to perform the ‘Bunny Cokey’ Song for the whole school. For art, we made an Easter Bunny and an Easter Basket. We finished up for Easter by having an Easter party and we even had a visit from the Easter Bunny!
