S.P.H.E. in 1st and 2nd class

We have been learning about Growing and Changing in S.P.H.E. We have learned how we have changed since we were babies, and the things we needed then that we don’t need anymore. We has a visitor into our room to help us identify the needs of babies at different ages. We then discussed how much we have learned to do since we were small. We really have grown a lot already!

School Tour 2022

Staff and pupils were full of excitement on Friday 13th of May 2022. It was our first school tour since 2019, so we were delighted to get the opportunity to go on an outing as a whole school again! Our destination this year was Castleblaney Outdoor Adventure Centre.

The children got involved in several physical, mental, skill and water-based challenges. The day was enjoyed by all and everyone arrived home in great form after their fun filled day of activities.

First Holy Communion 30th April 2022

On Saturday the 30th of April 2022, our five amazing boys and our four fantastic girls in Second Class got to make their First Holy Communion.  Finally, we got the opportunity to celebrate this special occasion on the expected date and even though we had a wet morning, the children shone.

Our entire school community is incredibly proud of each and every one of them. They did our school, themselves and their families proud with their prayerful and respectful participation in the mass. They sang their hearts out and we are certain that it will be a day that they will never forget.

It was a privilege to help these wonderful children on their journey of faith to the sacrament of First Holy Communion.

We would like to sincerely thank Fr. Daly for all his support as we prepared for this special day. He without doubt ensured that the day was  a truly memorable one for the children.

We hope that your weekend of celebrations was all you wished for. May God continue to guide our First Communicants in faith and protect them always with his love.

Autism Awareness Day 2022

On Friday 1st April 2022 we celebrated Autism Awareness Day. Firstly, we recapped on what we had learned last year about autism. We then learned about living with autism from the perspective of Megan, a ten year old girl from Canada whose little brother Matt has autism. We learned a lot from watching Megan go through daily life, and we have definitely taken away some brilliant ways to help make life easier for someone with autism. We also wore blue on the day to support Autism Awareness!

Thank you to all of the boys and girls for taking part.

In ‘Gaeilge’,we learned lots of vocabulary linked to Saint Patrick’s Day, played some games to practice our vocabulary and made some lovely Saint Patricks’s Day cards. For maths, we completed Saint Patrick’s themed maths challenges , Saint Patrick’s Day symmetry and addition. We sung ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’  and made Saint Patrick’s Men and Saint Patrick’s Day Badges.  We even sent home some postcards to our families to wish them a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
