Halloween 2021

We had great day on 22nd October 2021 celebrating Halloween in St. Michael’s National School. The children dressed up and each class had a Halloween party. We took part in Trick-or-Treat for Temple Street and raised €170 for this very worthy cause, well done everyone!

We also held a socially-distanced fancy dress parade and fancy dress competition. Congratulations to our winners – Lucas, Calum, Calum, Anna, Saoirse, Tom, Liam and Cassie.

Well done to everyone on an amazing first term! We look forward to seeing you all in November!

Read-A-Thon

St. Michael’s N.S. are taking part in a Read-A-Thon to raise much needed funds for our school library 📕
All children who return a completed sponsorship card before December 10th 2021 will be entered into a draw for a Smyths Voucher 🥳
We thank you all for your continued support!

Colouring Competition Winners

Congratulations to Willow and Jamie who won the Fáilte Isteach colouring competition back in June 2021. These two were delighted to receive their wonderful prizes.

First Confession 2021

Thirteen special pupils celebrated the Sacrament of Penance on Tuesday 25th May 2021 in St. Lastra’s Church, Donaghmoyne. Although this year’s First Confession was different than any other, it was no less special and will be one to be remembered with fond memories.

Well done and congratulations to the three boys and ten girls in second class for their respectful and prayerful participation on the morning of their First Confession.

Every one of them should feel very proud of their efforts, both in preparation for and during the ceremony. Both Second Class and First Class sang beautifully and this enhanced the occasion massively.

A huge thank you to Father Daly for celebrating this special occasion with us.

Autism Awareness Day 2021

There was a sea of blue in St. Michael’s N.S. on Friday 16th April as we celebrated our first annual Autism Awareness Day on Friday 16th April. The children in each class took part in various lessons throughout the day to raise awareness about autism. They learned what autism is, how to communicate with someone with autism, and how we could make school life easier for someone with autism. We wore blue on the day in support of autism awareness.

We also completed a whole-school collaborative art project which you can view below. The puzzle pattern reflects the complexity of the autism spectrum. It also shows that although we all have different personalities and abilities, we all fit together to create one amazing school community.

The children engaged really well and learned a lot! Well done boys and girls!

A visit from the Easter Bunny

We had a very special visitor to our school on the 26th March.. The Easter Bunny! The Easter Bunny brought Easter eggs for all of the children; it was such an exciting end to the school term.
A huge thank you to our Parent’s Association who managed to contact the Easter Bunny to arrange the visit.
Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter break!

Eggcited for Easter in Mrs McGuirk’s Room

The boys and girls have been ‘busy bunnies’ in the week leading up to the Easter holidays. They learned about the Easter Story and the reason that we celebrate Easter. We also learned about the origins of Easter and how it is celebrated around the world.

We learned lots of Irish words around the theme of Easter. We also completed some ‘eggcellent’ Easter art too, which the children really enjoyed.

Have a ‘Hoppy Easter’ boys and girls and enjoy your Easter Holidays!

We were very lucky to have Miss O’ Brien with us for the past three weeks. We hope that she enjoyed her teaching practice experience in St Michael’s N.S. Donaghmoyne and we wish her every success in her future studies.

Zoom Art Session

We created these beautiful Spring Wreaths during our art class with Jo on zoom last week. It is so wonderful to see that Spring is finally here!

Mother’s Day Bouquets in 1st and 2nd Class

The pupils in 1st and 2nd Class put in huge efforts to create beautiful flower bouquets in our Zoom Art Session today.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our lovely mammies. Enjoy your day on Sunday!
