Last May, Carrickmacross Tidy Towns ran a poster competition titled ‘Feed the Bees’. There were lots of amazing entries from our school but the winner with his tagline ‘Don’t be a Hater, Save the Pollinator’ was Joshua Hughes in 3rd Class. He received his prize today. Well done Joshua!
1st and 2nd Class are ready for their Christmas Performance 2021
We had such great fun in our classroom preparing for our Christmas performance of ‘The Grinch who stole Christmas’. We worked so hard learning our lines, songs and dance routines and we were eagerly waiting for December 8th for our individual chance to shine. We got into the Christmas spirit for our special day by wearing our Christmas jumpers and accessories. Didn’t we look just fabulous?
We shone like the bright stars we are and we are so proud of ourselves.
Teacher said she is so proud of us too. We were so tired after all the hard work and excitement that we just had to take a well deserved rest!
We can’t wait for our parents to see the DVD.
December in 1st and 2nd Class
We decided to begin the month of December by allowing our creativity shine through. We all love being creative in 1st and 2nd class. We did some Christmas art. We made the most wonderful Snowman collage. It wasn’t easy because we had to cut out big and small pieces of coloured paper to add to our collages. The buttons for the snowman and the Christmas lights were the most difficult but we really enjoyed our art lesson. We are so excited for December and all the fun things we will do and learn in school in the lead up to Christmas!
Toy Show Day in 1st and 2nd Class
We ended November with such great excitement. We had a Toy Show Day on Friday the 26th November in our class. We learned and sang some songs from the Lion King. Teacher read us the story of A Hug For You by David King as she wanted to share with us how and where the journey of Adam’s virtual hug began. It was a cold day so teacher also gave us a treat of Hot Chocolate.
You will see from our faces that is was just delicious!

We explore the Vikings and made our very own Viking Brooch using paint, cardboard and pasta.
The children used the brand new tablets to research some artic animals including polar bear, the artic fox, the artic hare, the walrus and even reindeer.
Finally, we created some amazing art work based on The Starry Night by Van Gogh – these turned out to be simply spectacular.

September in 1st and 2nd Class: Pablo Picasso
In September we were inspired by the art of Pablo Picasso. We learned so much about him and then decided to create our very own self-portrait’s.
October in 3rd and 4th Class
Well, what a busy few weeks it has been in Mrs. Lennon’s Room. We have been exploring 2D shapes and using cubes to help us understand division in Maths.
Miss Connolly taught us all about space and we made our very own rockets to launch!
The boys and girls were very lucky to head on a trip to Cloghan GAA grounds to take part in this year’s Blitz – the first to happen in a long time! The weather was great, the children were all fantastic and we had an absolute ball! Mrs. Lennon was very proud of each and every one of the children, both for their excellent behaviour and fantastic sportsmanship!
We finished October on a high with Halloween celebrations. Such an amazing effort made by everyone dressing up. We played games, watched movies, had a Halloween Parade and tucked into a treat or two. Thank goodness there weren’t many tricks!
Enjoy the holidays everyone and stay safe!
