Community Games Champion!

Congratulations to sixth class student Eva on coming first in the Community Games Solo Singing Competition 2018. Eva travelled to Limerick to perform ‘Naughty’ from the musical Matilda. She was presented with a beautiful plaque at the County Monaghan Community Games award night.

We are all very proud of Eva’s wonderful achievement!

Cumann na mBunscol Success!

Congratulations to St. Michael’s National School boys football team who came second in their division in the Cumann na mBunscol league. They displayed great skill and sportsmanship in the final, where they were defeated by Deravoy National School on Saturday 20th October. We would like to congratulate the boys, who will go down in history as one of the only teams from St. Michael’s National School to make it to the final. The boys produced an outstanding performance, of which they should be very proud!

We would like to thank everyone who came out on the day to support the boys. Also, a special word of thanks to Peter Boylan for his commitment in training the boys.

Maths Week 2018

To celebrate maths week 2018, Ms Atkinson’s class focused on improving their mental maths through various classroom games and activities. We ended our maths week by completing a maths trail inside the school grounds. This allowed children the opportunity to see maths in the world around them. Well done to all of the children for their fantastic effort!

Lego WeDo

WeDo is a primary education resource developed for primary school pupils as an introduction to control technology and programming using robotics. It’s a fantastic, simple-to-use tool that enables pupils to learn by constructing their own models and bringing them to life.

Ms Atkinson’s class were lucky to have the opportunity to use WeDo numerous times throughout the month of October. Great fun was had by all!

Autumn Art

One of our art lessons this October used fabric and fibre. We created Autumn trees that highlighted the various colours that can be seen in Autumn.

Roman Pottery

On completion of our S.E.S.E. theme ‘Ancient Rome’, Ms Atkinson’s class designed and created their own Roman-inspired pottery using clay.
